Championnats du monde : Laurent Jalabert a choisi "son" équipe

Laurent Jalabert vient de choisir les coureurs qui constitueront l’équipe de France à Melbourne-Geelong (Australie) pour les championnats du Monde (du 28 septembre au 3 octobre). Ils sont au nombre de 7 ainsi que l’exige le nouveau règlement de l’UCI.

2) L'équipe est cconstituée de cinq coureurs confirmés qui ont tous des atouts à faire valoir (aptitude aux courses en circuit, qualités indéniables de sprinter) et deux jeunes, Offredo et Gautier, dont on connaît la valeur et qui, espérons-le, ne seront pas sacrifiés.

3) Laurent Jalabert avait dit au cours du Tour de France que la Vuelta constituait la meilleure préparation. Sur les sept sélectionnés, seuls Offredo, Bonnet et Hinault étaient au départ de l’épreuve espagnole. Offredo a abandonné sur chute au cours de la deuxième semaine de course.

4) Sylvain Chavanel doublera route et contre la montre. Dans cette épreuve il sera accompagné par Nicolas Vogondy (actuellement sur la Vuelta ).

5) Voeckler (champion de France), Fedrigo, Casar, Riblon ont décliné la sélection pour insuffisance de condition physique.

 

Chez les féminines Jeannie Longo doublera route et contre la montre. La championne de France, Mélanie Lesueur, victime d’une chute, n’est pas remplacée. Il n’y aura donc que quatre françaises au départ de l’épreuve sur route : Longo, Pitel, Creux et Ferrier-Bruneau.

 

Chez les Espoirs (tenant du titre Romain Sicard), l’équipe est composée de Le Bon, Gallopin (actuellement à la Vuelta ), Hardy, Demare, Soupe et Paiani.

Je pense à une absence, un peu incompréhensible dans cette sélection, celle de Samuel Dumoulin.

Outre qu'il est toujours en course sur la Vuelta, il a fait un bon début de saison, il revient fort après avoir raté son TDF.

Il a l'expérience et la maturité, il est vite au sprint, ce qu'il faut sur le circuit de Melbourne.
